One Soul Consecrated to Mary: Monday, July 6, 2015

J.M.J. On this the Memorial of Saint Maria Goretti, Virgin and Martyr (1890-1902), we ponder the example of this youth who heroically lived her commitment to Christ.

Maria loved her celestial Patroness and demonstrated it: she refused to sin, which would have gravely marred her close relationship with Our Blessed Lady.

Her undying consecration to Jesus through Mary was evident for all to see.

Saint Maria Goretti, shining example of purity after the Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.

Several persons have indicated their willingness to consecrate/re-consecrate themselves Ad Iesum Per Mariam ("To Jesus Through Mary") according to the method advocated by Saint Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort, Priest (1673-1716).

The preparation period of thirty-three days begins next Monday, July 13th, while the Act of Consecration will occur on Saturday, August 15th (the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary) as part of the "Legacy" after the Holy Mass celebrated at 9:00 a.m. by the Most Reverend Paul J. Swain, D.D., the Bishop of Sioux Falls, in the Sioux Falls Arena. (The Marian Procession and the recitation of the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary are scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. either inside or near the Arena.)

After the Holy Mass, all who have prepared to consecrate/re-consecrate themselves will draw close to the Altar for the Act of Consecration. You need bring nothing; the Act of Consecration will be handed to you.

Should you have any questions about the Preparation, the Act of Consecration or especially its meaning, significance and application, please contact me.

Please go to Confession, as recommended by Saint Louis Marie, before consecrating/re-consecrating yourself.

No one is coerced to make the Act of Consecration should he feel unsure of its obligations.
