O Holy Mother, Pray for Us!: First Friday, Saints Sixtus and Companions, Saint Cajetan, August 7, 2020

J.M.J.

Dear Christian People,

"Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw how strong the wind was he became frightened; and, beginning to sink, he cried out, 'Lord, save me!'" How God must be pleased when each of us calls out, "Lord, save me!" I am trembling, while He instead is His peaceful and magnificent Self. Only God can help me. Human intervention has its limits. God has no limits. It is time that I turn to Him--without limits.

+This Saturday, August 15th is the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven. Mary is now in Paradise in both body and soul. This year, this great Solemnity is not a Holy Day of Obligation. Nevertheless, we are encouraged to attend Mass to thank God for this marvelous privilege accorded to Our Blessed Mother. Therefore, please see the Mass schedule above for the times and the places of the special Masses.

+Congratulations to Trigg Aaron, the newly-baptized son of Josh and Jessie Yttreness.

+ God's Blessings upon Mike and Kathie Clarey, who give thanks to Our Lord for fifty years of married love in Christ.

+We pray for the sick, including Mother Marie Therese, O.C.D., Father Dana Christensen, Kathy Engerbrecht and Father Antonio Ramos.

+Welcome, Brother Paul Graupmann of the Franciscan Friars of the Holy Spirit. He is visiting his parents in Alexandria.

"What is Your Question?"
by Father Ben Miriam

Q. What is the answer to the age old question: "Can God make a mountain so large that He Himself cannot lift it?" If your answer is "no," then you are saying that God can make a mountain only so large.

A. The answer is "no," but not for the reason that you think. God cannot contradict Himself. He can make a mountain of any size that He chooses, and He can still lift that mountain. God is not restrained as are we. He is "omnipotent," meaning that He is the Almighty. Truly, God is all-powerful.
